KUNC, a northern Colorado community public-radio station (91.5 FM), recently ran a feature on Weld County's push for quality child care. KUNC reporter Sarah Hughes focuses on Weld's vision to bring quality care to more area families.

The segment includes short interviews with Paula Neth, chief operating officer of Qualistar Early Learning in Denver; Debbie Becker, Qualistar's Child Care Resource & Referral partner at Mile High United Way in Greeley; and Melissa Lelm, director of Early Childhood University, a 4-Star Qualistar Rated center in Greeley. The segment is four minutes long, and touches on Colorado's broader efforts to notch up the quality of child care available to families across the state.

Angie Shehorn, referral specialist from Children First, the Child Care Resource and Referral agency serving 11 counties in southeast Colorado, received the highest score in the country on a quality-assurance call performed by a national association. That group, the National Association of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies (NACCRRA), was so impressed that it plans to include Angie's call as a model in future NACCRRA training sessions.
